| IMPORTANT UPDATE ON JUPITER |
| Jupiter was recently diagnosed with Papillary Muscle Hypertrophy. This means she has enlarged muscles around the valves of the heart. While this isn't affecting her health at this time, there is no way to tell if it will progress into something more serious. It would not be responsible for us to breed her and risk the chance of this condition being a congenital one- one that she could pass on to her kittens. It wouldn't be fair to kitten buyers, Jupiter, her kittens or the advancement of the Bengal Breed. Papillary Muscle Hypertrophy is NOT a positive diagnosis for HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy), but she will forever be listed as equivocal for HCM. Equivocal means that she doesn't have a positive diagnosis for HCM, but it can never be ruled out. While our plans for our breeding program have taken a step back, we still plan to go forward. It is just going to take a little longer than we planned. For those of you who have inquired about kittens, or have been checking this website for the availability of kittens, we are truly sorry for the inconvenience and we thank you so much for your understanding. As you can imagine, this diagnosis is heart-breaking to us. We think Jupiter would have produced outstanding kittens. She was spayed on Thursday, July 31st. She will always be our wonderful pet. |
